Over the last academic year Fountain and Loving Care Ltd teamed up with another local care provider, Anchor to go into local schools and give talks to their sixth form Health and Social Care Students.
We have been able to provide talks to the students on what real life social care work life is like and all the different aspects involved, including but not limited to CQC inspections, Mental Health Capacity, DoLs, Communication and Learning Disability Care.
The feed back we have received from the schools has been amazing, so much so we wanted to share with you all.
We have been fortunate this year to work with Fountain & Loving Care to help deliver the BTEC Level 3 in Health and Social Care qualification. This professional partnership has been instrumental in developing our students understanding of key concepts within the Health and Social care sector. The bespoke programme designed by Fountain & Loving Care was carefully put together after in depth conversations about they areas our students needed support with. The programme incorporates a variety of lectures, tasks and for BTEC qualifications, the valuable work experience opportunities.
Students have developed their knowledge of key concepts for their Unit 1 exam while developing their understanding of legislation and codes of practice for the examination of Unit 2. The work experience opportunity has enabled students to work with a variety of people and put into practise the concepts we have delivered in the classroom. BTEC assignments are linked to case studies and being able to complete placements with Fountain & Loving Care have brought these to life and helped students to understand how they apply theories to practice.
The response form students who completed placements was extremely positive. For several our students the thought of the placement was daunting and they were extremely nervous, however every student came back with positive experiences and a new found understanding of the care sector. For the most nervous students they came back saying how the experience had changed them and they were so pleased and proud they had completed their placement.
I am incredibly grateful to Fountain & Loving Care for working with us and helping to inspire the next generation of Health and Social Care workers, several students are now thinking of careers ion this sector that they had previously not known or thought of. I am looking forward to expanding the partnership further in the future.
