In the last 12 months, our Area Manager Jane has successfully run a schools programme with 3 local schools, whose students have been studying Health and Social Care.
The programme runs for 4 weeks where we go in and give talks to the sixth form students about the world of Health and Social Care the industry that they are thinking of a career in. We then let them come into our homes to experience what it is like working with the people we support. We then go into the classroom to discuss their experiences with us and a few more related topics.
Not only has the programme be extremely successful with all three schools wanting us to return, but we have had more local colleges interested as well as many of the students who came for their afternoon placements wanting to complete their week long experience with us and even going on to do Volunteering in our homes for longer periods of times.
We recently received the most encouraging Thank you letter from one of the students who had not only complete the schools programme but her work experience with us too. This alone makes it all worth it.

If you are a Health and Social Care Student, over the age of 16 and would like work experience in a residential care home supporting people with a learning disability, behviours that challenge and/ or autism please contact Becky at becky@fountainlovingcare.co.uk and let her know why you are interested in this type of experience, what you are hoping to gain from this and what you would like to do as a career. Please also let her know your availability and current location (no addresses please). By providing this information we can place you in the right home to give you the best experience.
